    1. Tell me a little about yourself. Where are you from? What did you want to be when you grew up? Did you go to college? If so, where?

I am a single mom of an amazing 5 year old boy that has changed my life and the meaning of happiness in ways I never thought possible.  I was born in Miami Florida and lived there until 1993.  Our home was destroyed in Hurricane Andrew, and we sold it and moved up to Jacksonville about a year after the hurricane.  I have always been interested in how the mind works and what makes people tick, so I wanted to be a criminal profiler since I can remember.  I went to The University of Central Florida (UCF) and obtained two degrees: one in Criminal Justice and the other in Abnormal Psychology.

    2. Why did you choose to get into Real Estate?

I worked for Bank of America for 11 years.  I started out as a teller while in college and worked my way up to a Branch Manager.  I loved teaching, coaching,  and helping the people I managed grow to their greatest potential.  I started to become unhappy in my career when I realized the bank was pushing me to manage people to hit a “goal” that benefited them and not the customers’ needs.  I am very passionate about everything I do, and I could not grow in an environment that operated without putting the customers’ needs first.  I saw real estate as a new challenge and a way for me to freely help people get what they want and not get what a “company’ wanted them to have.

    3. What were some of the challenges you faced when you chose this career path, and how did you overcome them?

Besides the challenges I faced at the bank, I also faced challenges when I got my degree and began to try to attempt to a pursue a career with the knowledge I gained in college.  Unfortunately, the university didn’t explain the process very well. In order to be a criminal profiler, or work for the FBI, I had to be a police officer for at least two years.  Although I have the utmost respect for our law enforcement, becoming a police officer was not fitting for me, and it was not something I could do (especially with my fear of weapons).  That’s when I decided to pursue something that I could utilize my skills, help people, and not have to put myself in a job that I was afraid to do.

    4. Why do you love living in Jax?

That’s simple….FAMILY!!!  Home is where the heart is, and because of the people in my life that make me smile and feel so lucky in life, this is where I am. I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.  I have also been able to see this city grow so much and become the #1 city in the state and #2 city in the country to live in.  I love being a part of such amazing growth.

    5. What are some of your favorite things to do? Places to go?

I love doing anything that is social and involves the people in my life that are important to me.  My mom is Lebanese and she and her family were born and raised in Jamaica! I get the amazing luxury of going to visit a really neat island, and being around such interesting people.

    6. Do you have any pets? If so, what kind? Names?

I do have a pet that I never thought I would have in my life.  I am a dog person for sure, but due to the busy life of a mom and career woman, having a dog is not ideal for my lifestyle.  So, I have a kitten (now grown into a fat cat) and my son named him “Cutie Kitty” haha.  I am allergic to the cat, and I take medicine daily in order to live in my own home, BUT my son loves him. That’s more important, so I will live with Zyrtec in order to get to watch my son enjoy his furry friend.

    7. If you could travel anywhere, where would you go, and why?

Well, I do have a fear of flying (ask any of my real estate friends or people close to me in my life). However, once I get on the plane and finish with my panic attack, I will go anywhere, and try any place on earth (that we can fly to) 🙂

    8.  Where do you see yourself in ten years?

Oh boy! What a loaded question!!!!  I will be 45 then, and all I can tell you is that I hope I am alive, healthy, and an awesome mom. I want to be able to enjoy the life I have, and people I love around me.
Keep an eye out next month as we feature another valued member of our team!
